[Digital Gangwon] On the morning of the 4th, Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Province attended the inauguration ceremony for the volunteers of the "2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games" held at Seoul Olympic Parktel at 11 a.m.

Representatives of all volunteers, including 50 individuals, and VIPs such as Choi Jong-oh, Chairman of the 2024 Gangwon Organizing Committee, Jin Jong-oh, and Lee Sang-hwa, Co-Chairpersons, Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture and Sports, Jo Hae-jae, President of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Shin Kyung-ho, Superintendent of Education, Kim Ki-hong, Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Council, and Park Kwang-gu, Director of the Provincial Volunteer Center, attended the ceremony. The mayors and county executives of the four host cities were appointed as honorary volunteer leaders, and actors Lee Dong-wook and Park Jae-min were appointed as honorary volunteers.

The volunteers for the Gangwon 2024 Games, who were recruited starting in April and underwent interviews, basic training, foreign language tests, etc., have been finalized as 2,030 individuals. Starting in the middle of this month, job assignments will begin, and they will be on-site for a total of 18 days, including four days longer than the duration of the event from January 16 to February 2.

Governor Kim Jin-tae emphasized, "Volunteers are the first and most frequent people that athletes and spectators visiting the Olympics meet, and they are the face of Asia's first Winter Youth Olympics. In the province, we will prioritize the 'safety and convenience' of volunteers, so let us all strive to make the Olympics a moving and successful event as part of the 'Shine Crew' aboard the sailing ship with raised sails."

"Shine Crew" derives its name from the event's slogan, "GROW TOGETHER SHINE FOREVER," combining "SHINE" and "CREW" to mean "shining contributors."

 

The 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, which will take place 40 days before the opening, will involve around 6,000 participants, including 1,900 athletes from over 70 countries. To attend the opening ceremony (paid) and all other games (free), reservations can be made through the designated reservation site.
